RATE OF PLAY
The club runs a number of tournaments throughout the year and participates in the Portsmouth League, together with members of Chichester Chess Club.
In club games, before play commences, the players shall agree on which time control
shall be used from the following options. For simplicity, there will
be two standard time controls to choose from (the ones used in
Divisions 1 and 2 of the Portsmouth League) but there is a third
option if both players fancy something different:
Option A: 30 moves in the first 1¼ hours plus 24 moves per hour
thereafter + adjournment.
Option B: 30 moves in the first 1¼ hours plus a 15-minute quickplay finish.
Option C: Any other reasonable classical time control in which there
is at least 1 hour on both clocks at the start of play.
In the event of disagreement, Option A will take precedence for the
Club Championship while Option B will take precedence for the
Knockout.
