BLITZ TOURNAMENT

Jaimie blitzes the opposition...again!
Jamie Wood organised a highly successful five-round, 20 mins per game,  Blitz tournament on the last club night before Christmas, which was won by club champion Jaimie Wilson, with 5/5.
The evening kicked off with an entertaining presentation by member Michael Hemming of his Pub Knight's Tour, a follow-up to his Knight's Tour presentation the previous Christmas.
Running alongside was a competition run by Mike Spence, with help from Celia Buckley and Nick Mansfield.
At the end of the evening, Michael presented a splendid chess set, given by Keith Davies, in a case Michael designed himself and engraved with previous Most Improved Player winners' details, which was handed to president Bill Partridge to be presented to future winners. It will be known as the Keith Davies Mike Hemming Trophy.
The club committee provided a buffet and thanks also go to Tracey Holmes for her splendid mince pies and drinks!
