SEPTEMBER 13: A number of players are going to take part in a 'playing at home' tournament while club nights are not possible. The mini all-play-all tournament will be run by Jaimie Wilson. Details
MARCH 22: Chichester Chess Club has confirmed it has suspended club nights at the Fishbourne Centre with immediate effect. Likewise, all Portsmouth Chess League matches have been postponed.
MARCH 21: The chess club will not be meeting until further notice - until the current health situation ends. There were only four players present on Friday - they took part in an impromptu 15mins quickly tournament. Francis Fields scored 5.5, Mick Plumb 2.5, Mike Spence and Adam Rafael-Holmes 2 each.
MARCH 19: This year's East Preston Festival has been cancelled - meaning that for the first time for many years there will be no village chess challenge. The event was due to have taken place on Saturday, June 6.
MARCH 19: The club will be open tomorrow night (March 20) but there are expected to be only a few members present. The situation is being constantly reviewed in light of the current health situation.

FEBRUARY 18: Chichester/Bognor A won their key home fixture against Fareham 3.5-2.5 in a match that went right down to the wire. Steve Smith, Tom Howeson and Rolandas Lukoshius ensured the home side couldn't lose. Andrew and Bill McDougall lost their matches but Jaimie Wilson came through to draw his game.

JANUARY 24: The weekly training sessions for youngsters at the Regis School are proving a tremendous success. Led by John Hargreaves, the sessions have attracted strong attendances. For information - see poster opposite. Further details

JANUARY 5: Portsmouth have announced they are unable to continue with their A team in Division 1 of the Portsmouth League. This means that Rule 20 of the League Rules now comes into effect. Portsmouth have played fewer than half of their fixtures, so the scores in their matches played have been deleted for both sides.

JANUARY 5: Jamie Wood defends his 2019 Knockout tournament title against Adam Holmes in the first round of this season's tournament, which has now been drawn. Full details.
JANUARY 5: Jamie Wood organised a highly successful Blitz tournament at the club's pre-Christmas social evening. Michael Hemming open-end proceedings with his splendid 'Knight's Pub Tour' and rounded off the evening by presenting to the club a splendid chess set for future Most Improved Player winners.
