JULY 30: Knockout holder Jaimie Wilson awaits the winner of the second semi-final - Norbert Gyorke v Mick Plumb - in the final of this year's tournament after Jaimie defeated Mike Spence in their semi-final game.
JUNE 10: Members of the chess club were called to the bar ... to take on East Preston festival-goers in a chess challenge at The Tudor Tavern. All eight boards were occupied throughout the morning as members of the public took on players. Picture gallery

MAY 24: Bognor/Chichester B finished their season with a resounding 5-0 win over Portsmouth. Results: Norbert Gyorke 1-0 Chris Campbell; Tom Howeson 1-0 Paul Barker; Mike Spence 1-0 Lewis Hoskin; Chris Squires 1-0 Jack Vorakhann; Steve Smith 1-0 Default. The team is currently joint first with Fareham B, but may lose out on the title, based on number of games won.
MAY 18: A combined Bognor/Chichester team came up against tough opposition in Portsmouth A for their Cole Cup Plate final encounter - losing 1-4. Results: B1 Oleg Barantsev 1-0 Mike Spence; B2 Tom Bird 1-0 Chris Squires; B3 Kewel Bhoi 1-0 lan Richardson; B4 S Venables 1-0 Philip Carr; B5 Chris Campbell 0-1 M Webber. Captain Mike Spence thanked all those who played, saying everyone knew it was always going to be a tough match.
MAY 16: Bognor/Chichester A enjoyed a thumping 5.5-.5 victory against Emsworth A, meaning they finish second in division one this season.
MAY 15: Bognor Chess Club lost to Lewes in the Paul Watson Troiphy final by the narrowest margin - losing out on board count after a 2-2 draw. Results: 1: Jaimie Wilson 0 - 1 Henry Adams (w); 2: Norbert Gyorke 1 - 0 Louis Buckland; 3: Mike Spence 0 - 1 Matthew Masani; 4: Warwick Turner 1 - 0 Gary Buckland.
MAY 11: As well as facing Lewes in the final of the Paul Watson Trophy - on May 12 - Bognor have another final challenge coming up - they are away to Portsmouth B in the final of the Cole Cup Plate, this match happening on Thursday, May 18.
MAY 9: A strong Fareham line-up defeated Bognor/Chichester B 4-1, putting a big dent in our division 2 title hopes. Results: B1 D Deacon 1-0 N Gyorke; B2 J Coburn 1-0 T Howeson; B3 E Black 1-0 lan Judd; B4 D Elliott 1/2 M Spence; B5 A Syed 1/2 S Smith. Captain Mike Spence reports that all games went down to the wire, but alas lady luck was not on our side.
APRIL 30: Bognor and Arun Chess Club will host the final of the Paul Watson Tournament when they welcome Lewes to their venue on Friday, May 12. Bognor made it to the final courtesy of a tie-break win against East Grinstead after a 2-2 draw.
APRIL 20: Jaimie Wilson helped Chichester/Bognor A on the way to a crushing 5-1 win away to Cosham A in the Portsmouth League. His draw, together with another half-point from Steve Smith, plus victories for Andrew and Bill McDougall, Rolandas Lukoshius and Tom Howeson secured the win.
APRIL 17: The combined Bognor/Chichester B team lost its unbeaten record, going down 1.5-3.5 to a strong Emsworth team. But they are still handily placed at the top of Portsmouth League division two. Results: B1 N Gyorke 1-0 P Dallas; B2 T Howeson 1/2 Ed Blanden; B3 S Smith 0-1 P Pinto; B4 M Spence 0-1 A Parker; B5 M Plumb 0-1 D Saunders.
