DECEMBER 16: Club member Michael Hemming will be presenting his 5-board Knight's Tour on Friday, December 17. The club will be open from 6.30pm and the presentation will run from 6.45pm until about 7.15 when chess can begin. There will be no club chess the following two Fridays, Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve.
DECEMBER 13, 2021: Chichester/Bognor B went down 1.5 - 3.5 in their Portsmouth League division two match against Emsworth B, played at Fishbourne. Scores: 1. Dan Hardy Wallace 0 - 1 Peter Dallas; 2. Chris Squires 1/2 Phil Pinto; 3. Tom Howeson 0 - 1 Edward Blanden; 4. Mike Spence 1/2 Mark Davies; 5. Jamie Wood 1/2 Darren Cook.
DECEMBER 10: Jaimie Wilson and Bill Partridge are leading the way in the Club Championship - both being on 9 points. However, Jaimie has a 100% record, while Bill has played four more games. They are followed by Mike Spence, who has 8 points from 12 played.
DECEMBER 6: Jaimie Wilson played on top board for the Sussex Open team ... and was last to finish as Sussex went down 10.5-5.5 to a strong Middlesex team. Jaimie eventually lost but he put up a brilliant fight against IM Richard Bates.
NOVEMBER 25: Bognor/Chichester B team continued where they left off before the lockdown with an excellent 3.5-1.5 victory away to Cosham B. Result: M Atkins 0.5 D H Wallace; G Feltham 0-1 C Squires; M Butler 1-0 M Spence;
M Banfield 0-1 M Plumb; J Webb 0-1 J Wood.

Results: 1 K Eyles 1-0 J Wilson; 2 P Dallas 0-1 A McDougall; 3 P Pinto 0.5 S Smith; 4 E Blandon 0.5 C Squires; 5 M Davies 0-1 M Plumb; 6 C Brown 0-1 M Spence .

NOVEMBER 5: Fareham Chess Club have withdrawn their teams from the Portsmouth and District Chess League.
NOVEMBER 1: Mike Spence stepped in at late notice when the Chichester/Bognor A team were a player short for their opening division one Portsmouth League fixture at home to Cosham. His draw helped the team secure a 4-2 victory. OCTOBER 29: The Portsmouth Chess League is about to get underway for another season - with Bognor again joining forces with Chichester. The clubs will be entering two joint teams in divisions one and two. Bognor's Mike Spence is captaining the B team. Div 1 Div 2
OCTOBER 16: Bill Partridge is an early leader in the Club Championship - with 4.5/7. But current champion Jaimie Wilson is very well placed with a 100% record of 4/4. Mike Spece also has 4 points, from 5 games.
OCTOBER 4: Bognor players were well represented at the Fareham Congress at the weekend ... and all did the club proud. Luigi Caste won the Minor with 5/6, with Alan Matthews finishing on 3.5. Jaimie Wilson finished joint second in the Open, with a terrific score of 4/6.

SEPTEMBER 10: Tournament controller Jaimie Wilson has drawn colours for the Club Championship, which is an all-play-all this season. It is hoped at least 16 players will compete. Details
AUGUST 27: Bognor and Arun Chess Club is up and running again after a long spell without over-the-board chess. At the annual meeting it was decided to begin a new Championship tournament with a new Knockout tournament to follow later rather than try to resurrect unfinished tournaments from 2019-20.
JULY 23: The club had a successful first night of over-the-board chess following closure because of covid restrictions. Nine attended to enjoy an evening of chess.
JULY 12: Provided Boris Johnson goes ahead and announces the abandonment of most formal lockdown restrictions from July 19, over-the-board chess at the club will resume on Friday, July 23.
JUNE 16: The club is looking to resume over-the-board chess at the club from Friday, July 23, government rules permitting.

Flick through the pages of a recent Brighton Argus and you would have spotted former Bognor Chess Club player Nigel Pestelle in action. He's proved he's also a dab hand at Subbuteo - the tabletop football game based on players using their fingers to flick miniature players at a ball towards the goal.
JUNE 3: Club member Jamie Wood is once again offering members the chance to play over the board chess at his home. The Saturday afternoon sessions - intended for classical time-control chess, 1 hour + 30-second increment - begin this Saturday (June 5) with subsequent sessions until June 26. Last year's outdoor chess matches proved highly popular. To take advantage of this opportunity, please arrange your own opponent (and agree your preferred time-control) and then let Jamie know in advance that you are playing.. All games will be graded provided both players are paid-up ECF members.
