JUNE 14: Rolandas Lukosius has won the new Portsmouth League "Reg Clark Cup" for the best score in division two during the season. He scored 6/7 points  (85.7 per cent) which was a highly significant factor in Bognor/Chichester winning the division.

MAY 28: The Bognor/Chichester B team won the Cole Cup Plate, defeating Portsmouth 3-2. The A team drew with Fareham but were beaten on board count.

MAY 11: Jamie Wilson has been confirmed as the club champion again this season. He scored a highly impressive 13.5/14. The current runner-up is Keith Davies, 11/13, followed by Rolandas Lukosius, 9.5/11. The top four grades - Jaimie, Keith, Rolandas and Bill Partridge - have made it to the rapidplay finals. In the knockout, Jaimie is in the final against either Keith, Rolandas or Romauld Kotkiewicz.

MAY 5: The Chichester/Bognor team clinched the division two title in the Portsmouth League on Tuesday with a 4-2 win at Fareham. Rolandas Lukosius clinched victory with a superb win in the final minutes, despite being two pawns down in a bishop and rook end game.

MARCH 22: Jaimie Wilson is well set to win the club championship .... again. He leads the field with 12.5/13. Keith Davies lies second on 11/13, with Rolandas Lukosius third, on 9.5/11.

MARCH 19: Chichester/Bognor lost their unbeaten record in division two of the Portsmouth League last night, going down 4-2 away to a strong Emsworth side. We are still handily placed at the top of the division, though, with just three matches left to play.

FEBRUARY 25: Our teams enjoyed a double success against Cosham in the past week - in division two and three. The div three side were victorius last week, being handed a 6-0 whitewash after the home side failed to field a side. Then, seven days on, the div 2 side ran out 4.5-1.5 winners, leaving them in charge at the top of the table.

JANUARY 29: The third team was heavily defeated against Portsmouth on Friday, in division three of the Portsmouth League, losing at home 5-1.

JANUARY 26: Chichester/Bognor A beat Cosham 3-2 to make it to the final of the Cole Cup: J Wheeler 0-1 A. McDougall - a wild game where Andrew sacrificed some pieces and John blundered in a bad position in mutual time trouble; D. Cordner 0.5-0.5 W. McDougall - Difficult opening for Bill but he turned the position around and had winning chances in the endgame but Dave defended well for the draw; R. Puchades 0.5-0.5 J. Wilson - Jaimie played white and had an IQP and had a slight initiative through the game but it was drawn; A. Smith 1-0 I. Judd - Ian relinquished the initiative in the middlegame and missed a saving chance towards the end.

JANUARY 25: Team captain Keith Davies reports on the Chichester/Bognor team's 3-2 success in the Cole Cup plate against Emsworth:

Board 1 After being about equal up to move 20, Keith Davies drifted in the middle game into a very passive position as black against Mike Lambshire who has a 199 grade. As expected, Mike took full advantage and won easily.

Board 2 Bill Partridge, playing white against Martin Buckley, had winning chances and later had drawing chances but unfortunately lost, suffering in severe time trouble.

Board 3 Mick Plumb, playing black against R Treloar, having achieved a winning position, finished the game off with a neat unstoppable mate.

They defaulted Board 4, which meant someone did not get a game in the match. Thank you, Ray for volunteering to be that person.

Board 5 John Kalber, with black, dominated his game and made short work of Vincent Agius, who can be a tricky player.

So on to the final, to take on the winner of Fareham B v Portsmouth or Gosport. Can we successfully defend our title of Cole Cup Plate champions?

My thanks to those who played - Keith Davies

JANUARY 2: The combined Bognor/Chichester teams in the Portsmouth league head two divisions going into the new year. They have a clear lead in division 2 with 5 points from 6 and share top spot in division 3, but lead the table with marginally more game points. The A team is finding it tough-going in division one and lie third, having won one of their three games.
