DECEMBER 2, 2003: Bognor lost narrowly to Chichester in their third SW Sussex fixture of the season, 2-3. Bill Partridge's win, with Paul O'Brien and Gary Cox's draws, were cancelled out by losses for Mick Plumb and Keith Davies.
NOVEMBER 17, 2003: Bognor came unstuck against league holders Emsworth, losing 4½-½. Their next match is away to Chichester on December 2.
OCTOBER 24, 2003: Bognor got their South West Sussex League campaign underway with a 3-2 victory at home to Worthing. Keith Davies, Martyn Eaves and Gary Cox were the winners.
OCTOBER, 5, 2003: Paul O'Brien - club champion the season before last - is the front-runner in this season's championship with 5/5.
SEPTEMBER 12, 2003: Bognor's new season is underway! Twelve players helped get the club championship started, with some close matches. It's still not too late to join Bognor, and participate in the club's tournaments, which include two quick-plays and a knockout.
SEPTEMBER 5, 2003: Bognor players fought out a keenly contsted summer tournament, which went right down to the wire. Luigi Caste emerged victorious on the final evening, with 14 points. Joint second were Paul O'Brien and Gary Cox, with 13 points; followed by Keith Davies, 12½; Martin Eaves, 11; Roland Downs, 10.
JULY, 28, 2003: Grades for the new season were announced this week.
JULY 12, 2003: Bognor missed out on a great chance to win the Brighton Jamboree. Daniel Hirshe and Ray Williams, both guesting, achieved fine wins, with Bill Partridge and Mick Plumb also gaining victories. Unfortunately, Keith Davies and Gary Cox lost, leaving the club with a creditable 4/6.
JULY 11, 2003: A successful season was reported at the club's annual meeting. With 21 paying members, Bognor is in its strongest position for some years. Robin Bavin won the championship; Keith Davies, the Knockout; Philip Wake, the half-hour and Bill Partridge, the Lightning. The club hopes to peg its membership fee again for next season and continue its successful involvement with Chichester in the Portsmouth League.
MAY 19, 2003: An under strength Bognor put up a brave fight at Emsworth on Monday night but lost 1½-3½ to Dredgers, giving their opponents the South West Sussex League title. Gary Cox won and Martin Eaves carved out a well-fought draw.
MAY 16, 2003: Two victories in one evening secured the Bognor championship for Robin Bavin. He beat John Gracey and then defeated last year's champion, Paul O'Brien, to take the title with an incredible 12/13. Paul O'Brien and Keith Davies came joint second.
APRIL 26, 2003: Bognor had their best result for several weeks, beating Worthing 4-1 at home. The result, which put a real dent in the visitors' hopes of winning the league.
MARCH 7, 2003: In the battle of the wooden spoon, Bognor were edged out 2-3 at home to Chichester in the South West Sussex League.. Bognor now stay rooted to the bottom in the table!
FEBRUARY, 2003: Chichester head two out of three divisions in the Portsmouth League - and Bognor players are having a significant impact. Chichester B, in division two, and Chichester C, in division three, are each top - a number of Bognor players have been involved.

But they put up a brave fight, losing 4½-1½, Keith Davies beating Andrew McDougal, and Mick Plumb holding Ray Williams. Bognor had lost their previous cup encounter, against Worthing, ½-5½ - with Kris Llewlyn doing very well to hold Ray Hunt.
